Now I see - Digital poem (AU/UK spelling)

$12.00

A poem from a daughter to a mother for Mother's Day, birthday or any other special occasion.

Now I See you is a poem from a daughter to her mother after becoming a mother herself. The poem, written by myself, captures that new understanding we have of our own mums/moms once we've crossed over the threshold and 'become' a mother ourselves.

"So now that I’m a mother,
And everything has changed,
I need you to know Mum, I understand,
It’s all been rearranged."

This is a digital print you can print from home and frame for Mother's Day or just as a special gift to your mum.

Upon purchase you will receive access to the UK/AU/NZ A4 version of the digital print. If you would like a 8x10in version please add a note to purchase and this will be sent to you. US spelling is also available.

I recommend printing on card 200gsm or higher.

A poem perfect to gift for Mother’s Day, or any occasion, for a special mum in your life (or even yourself).

The poem reads:

Since I’ve become a mum,
A few things have become apparent.
Like how deep a mother’s love can reach,
And how tough some days are to parent.

Mum - I realise that ‘I love you’,
Is more deeply felt than words could say.
I realise now the fear you carried,
At my getting in harms way.

I realise that your life began,
Before mine sparked from you.
But as a child in their own world,
It offered such a narrow view -

Of the woman that you were,
Of your own hopes, dreams and history.
That you quietly carried on,
While your two arms enfolded me.

But now that I’ve become a mum,
I’m seeing it all so differently.
And there’s a few things that I need to say,
A few things now so clear to me.

That when you said I love you,
You meant it more than life itself.
That when I was hurt or felt any pain,
You felt it all yourself.

That all those birthdays and Christmases,
And all the ordinary days in between.
Were magic because you made them so,
All the work you did so often unseen.

And I wish I’d realised sooner,
How much you gave up for us.
I wish I’d argued with you more,
To go and fill your cup.

I wish I’d been more careful,
With the teenage barbs I threw your way.
To realise that nothing I said,
Could make you give up and walk away.

But my world view was still narrow,
Filled with me and I.
It wasn’t until I became a mum,
That all these things clarified.

So now that I’m a mother,
And everything has changed,
I need you to know Mum, I understand,
It’s all been rearranged.

I see like never before -
So from the bottom of my heart,
I love you, thank you for all you’ve done
For loving us the way you have from the start.
